Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy

I offer a safe form of psychotherapy that is designed to alleviate mental distress as well as foster long-lasting changes. Real change takes place when you engage in a process that allows you to explore and understand the roots of your problem.
How we think, feel and behave is frequently related to how we were parented and our early childhood environment. And although we cannot change the past, we can understand the influence it has on our current relationships at work and at home.

Relieving Mental Distress Through Therapy

Many forms of mental distress are due to the avoidance of certain feelings and thoughts. It is common and natural to avoid distressful thoughts and feelings but there is a cost! You put a lot of energy into “not feeling” and miss out on many parts of your unique self. If we work together I can help you uncover your more authentic self by getting in touch with the feelings and thoughts you have been trying to avoid. Through therapy you can more fully discover who you are and what you want. You can also learn what excites you about life and what dictates your unhappy choices.

Getting in touch with your feelings and understanding your behaviors leads to less distress and a greater ability to make good choices in life and reach your full potential. Therapy may eventually lead you to a more meaningful life, more enjoyment in work and play, and ultimately give you the ability to come to terms with your limitations as well as your strengths.

Working Together

In this form of therapy, I will not tell you what to do. Instead, I will help you become more in touch with your individual needs and wishes so that you can decide what course of action is best, and learn ways to cope long after you have completed therapy.

Finding the right treatment modality and the right therapist with whom to work is fundamental. I offer a free phone consultation before setting up an initial session to assess whether what I offer feels like the right course of action for your needs.
One of my aims in treatment is to help you focus on your goals, how you want to live and what’s stopping you from getting there. So before we begin, let’s make sure this is the right fit for you.
